Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Finally - it only took 682 miles!!!

I was finishing my week earlier today and ended with a great week. I pushed real hard and earned a total of 152.75 miles this week.
Anyway to my point - I had about 6 miles left today and "I hear on the left" to have a lady and guy come around me. As they slide back over in front of me - I thought "you have this - catch up and drop in". I pulled right in and let them know I was on my return and would love to draft. They let me and I had a blast those 6 miles. I told them "on the left" and pulled up next to both of them and thanked them for the good time. I then let them continue to lead and I dropped back in behind them and then turned into my subdivision. My MPH went up 4-5 mph while I was riding with them. Flats and hills for those last 6 miles, so it was a great experience!

Good Times for sure!

The last time I had the opportunity to draft a really good looking girl I had a heart attack. No, I really mean it.

I started riding 682 miles ago (2 months ago). I ride solo and I usually get passed. I finally got a chance to cruize with 2 riders that came by me. It was a good time drafting...
I know I could find people to ride with but I just like hammering out the miles every week by myself. Maybe later on, I will look for others to ride with but for now - it is only if I catch the right opportunity like today. I live right off the route for the Ironman here in Kentucky. People come from everywhere to get to my area.

I took a route with a very big downhill and climb today. I've been avoiding it until today. I was headed out and at the last second hung the right of no return.
I declined very well (I actualy love that part) but when I started up - it got in my head a little bit. I actually forgot about the gearing and cadence for the first part of the up hill (and it is very hard hill). I caught what I was doing and started working on correcting everything - including my breathing. It was very close to a panic, but I dialed it back in and had myself in a great situation half way up the hill. It was probably my best day today so far. I rode a little over 50 miles solo Friday but today going up that hill was even better than Friday. Cadence up the hill payed off big time! I was able to settle in and get my breathing back under control.

I'll say it again. There are posts on here that help me tremendously - thanks for a great site!
