Help, Please: Rusted Bolts
Hi guys,
Hope someone can help. I have rusted bolts on my Jamis Sputnik. It is the 2009 with the carbon fork.
See pictures, please. I'd like to replace with titanium but not sure of size or what to call the front axle bolts so i can order them. Thanks!

Just get some new ones that are quality chrome plated steel. They are called axle nuts and are 9mm in the front and 10mm in the rear. I've never seen or heard of titanium axle nuts, although they can be found for seatpost binder bolts if you really want to spend the money.

you're looking for a "seatpost bolt" and "track nuts" or "axle nuts". make sure you get a pair of 9mm bolts for the front and 10mm for the rear, these are the standard sizes and what I'm sure your sputnik uses. seatpost bolts on steel frames are pretty standard, some are proprietary but yours is probably pretty standard and most replacement bolts should work.

for the seat post bolt, just take the bolt to your local hardware store and get one in stainless. no reason to spend anymore

Those don't look too bad, I would just throw them in a vinegar bath for a bit then clean them up with a bit of tin foil. You'd be surprised the amount of rust you can clean up with those basic household items and a little time.

Titanium hardware sucks. WAY too soft/ malleable of a metal for nuts.
The person who decided to include Ti bolts w/ a super shallow socket on chub hubs should be shot.
OP get ever it, a little surface rust can't harm a fly.
What if I told you there most likely is a layer of surface rust on insides of your frame's tubes?
