Tad big, but it’s all day comfortable. Plus the price was too low to pass. It was a mess when I picked it up, trashed headset, broken F/D and a few other problems. Just about everything needed I had on hand.

Nice job. I saw no reason for the cable guides on the top tube so I drilled them out and had the housing go all the way through. Does anyone know why they did that? I get it from the old racing days where shortening cables saved a few ounces over all, but for a touring bike between handing the bike with panniers and putting it on the stand. I don't see it

Sometimes, long lengths of housing are a problem if water gets in to cause corrosion, consequent friction, and eventual jamming. With short lengths, this issue can be more easily addressed.

Were they slotted? With slotted cable guides, you can slip the cable out and slide the housing back and forth to clean/lubricate the cable w/o affecting the brake adjustment.

Always been curious about surly but I doubt the geometry would work for me. Nice bike.
