Murder Trial
the hazards of bicycle racing and love will be on full display in Austin Tx this wk when kaitlin armstrong (unrelated to Lance?) goes on trial for shooting to death pro MTB racer Anna Moriah (Mo) Wilson all because her gravel racing boyfriend Colin Strickland had gone down to an Austin swimming hole with Wilson who seems to have told Kaitlin that he and Mo were through but he actually seems to have been keeping time with both girls .........................

When you have a hammer everything becomes a nail. When I moved to Dallas I was surprised by all the gun fights that resulted from fender bender auto/truck accidents. And it is legal to carry a loaded firearm inside the vehicle so it is ready in an instant. When I was living in Dallas the state also tried to pass a law to make driving with an open alcohol container illegal. Upset a few people until it was amended to allow passengers to have open containers in vehicles.

Bald Paul Ah, yes, it's totally related to cycling. Mo Wilson was a professional cyclist in her prime. I think that qualifies.

none of this would have happened had Mo & Colin not had bicycling bonds proving that once and for all that riding bicycles with love or for money can be very hazardous .............................i concede that this happened among gravel grinders and MTBers and probably would not have occurred in a fixed gear relationship but to wholly discount the bike aspect is to fail to grasp (and be wary of) the passion of gravel grinders

This is a personal tragedy for those involved, and gravel racing lost one of its great young stars. Very sad.
But I don't care to follow celebrity gossip/trials/dramas, even if it involves bike racers.
our general fascination with the lurid tales of the rich and famous feeds a terrible beast.
So I'll not follow the trial or read the associated articles.

Well, I would hazard a guess that if Peter Sagan or Greg Lemond or (name another famous cyclist here) was executed in cold blood, that thread would probably get some traction on the forums. Maybe it belongs in Foo, but it's certainly of interest to some cyclists. Wahddevah. I'm glad it got posted, I want to hear how this story ends.

The one thing I don't understand is why she killed the other woman, rather than going directly to the source of the problem.

Guilty. (Not that it should be a surprise).
