MacAskill's Gymnasium

No doubt, the most talented rider in the world, and quite possibly ever will be.

How many takes did he have to do on each one of the skits?

Frequently, several. Sometimes none. Does it really matter?

MacAskill is simply a one-off talent on a bike when it comes to technical ('trials') moves.

He is an incredible rider. No doubt. That’s exactly why I’d like to know how many tries does it take to get some of these tricks on the video.

The out takes at the end of the video make you realize that his near misses and recoveries are as awesome as when he nails each stunt. Kudos to the editor(s). They always make the talent look good.

I think my favourite is 'Danny day care'. I love the fact that he seems such a lovely bloke as well as being an awesome rider.

The outtakes demonstrate the guy's durability and determination, plus the level of insanity it takes to undertake the stunts that he does.

That little kid is super cute, too! My kids loved the trailer, and the rougher it got, the more fun they had. Of course I did not do stunts, just fun stuff.

In this video Danny tells Martyn Ashton that he tries some of the tricks 300 times or more, Good video of two great riders.

Showed this to my kids, I really appreciate the outtakes as it shows them that even the most impressive rider doesn't get it right every, can get hurt, but keeps trying.

There's a Gymnasium behind the scenes video up on YouTube now, in which MacCaskill and crew mention that the slackline gap took ~300 tries, and the "ghost flip" trick took between 700-800 tries. But he apparently nailed the parallel bars 360º trick in just a few attempts.

The pure joy on Danny's face while he performs is enough for me. He reminds me of the day over 60 years ago when I taught myself how to ride a bicycle

What an athletic individual, he obviously loves riding. He even makes crashing look easy. Me? I could fall off of a stationary bike and possibly break multiple bones......
