Training Status??? (IV)

There is absolutely no way I could even do 1x18 at 90% on a trainer. Then again the very few times I attempted trainer I managed maybe a few minutes of sweet spot at a time and the worst 50 TSS of my life lol.

Random VO2 max workout this morning (FTP set to 292);
3' at 355 w
5' at 327 w
4' at 340 w
5' at 325 w
3' at 360 w
I like mixing up the duration and intensity when doing this kind of stuff. Makes it less mentally draining than doing 4-6x of the same interval.

Two hours of no structure detoured commute. Still fiddling with the TT bike.

Do it haha. I know we've both done 3/5/5/5/3 workouts before, just thought I'd mix it up for the middle one!

vo2 day for me, always a great way to feel like a failure. workout was intended to be 3 sets of 3x3min @ 120%, did some at 120, some at 118% and some at 115%. I don't know about everyone else, it seems like my legs always want to just stop at 2min, and I suppose that's the point of this hard work is to keep powering through, but I feel like I should be better. I'm starting to feel like I need to start doing these outdoors on hills and see how that compares to being on the trainer in erg mode

I was trying 4X8 at around 105-107% last week in erg mode, but only made it about 2/3 of the way through. I think 4X8 is a bit long for me just starting out, so I'm thinking I'll go with 5X6 or even 6X5 and keep a longer rest interval to accumulate more time at VO2 levels. So, I'm wondering the same thing about doing these outside on the hills vs on the trainer.
I have a hill that is almost 3/4 a mile at 9% avg just around the corner from my house that I'd like to give these VO2 intervals a try on, but it's so much easier to hop on the trainer and be done with it. Plus I have to get all my kit on (still only in the 40's for high temps here) and extend the "training" time by a significant amount to go outside.
Maybe I'll give these a try tonight outside and see how it goes.

Yeah, really like that idea. I mostly keep my Vo2 to 4 minutes (usually a bit more intense) now because 5 minutes feels so much more mentally taxing. Maybe I miss out on some adaptation, but getting workouts done is nice too.

I'm focusing on training for the next two weeks so I'm just going to train straight through SLR and not really rest up for it. I'll have some teammates in the race so if I can put my nose out there and do something useful mid way through I will, don't care if I get dropped.
Any way you slice it, it will at the very least be just another bike ride/workout, which is a good thing

Man, I may try that also. I’m close to that. For 20min.
2 sets 3x3min today. Not there yet for power I chose. Maybe. Total success 3x, a fart out for 5 to 10 seconds the other.
Can’t say it’s not a challenge. Each one ends in a huff and panting and a grind to a halt and a cuss.
It’s almost time to transition to Mt Mitchell preparation rides instead and some more weight management.
I’d love to be around 290s and 150lb come May.
Thursday night is local “Thursday night worlds” hammer fest. Let’s try that this week.

4x12 @ 98%, 99%,102%,97%. I feel in C+ form relative to where I was in December, but the numbers say I'm still better than last spring. I imagine I'll be most of the way back in 4-5wks. Will repeat the workout as a 3x15 then 4x15 as the week goes on, tomorrow prob 3hrs with 4x30 @ 80-84%
Cat 2
Vo2 stuff for me as well. 4x2 min at 130%, then 4x1minute at 150%, then 4x30s at 180%. Honestly... it wasn't that bad because there wasa ton of rest associated with each interval. The weather was so nice and sitting on the trainer to bang out this workout got me all anxious so I chagned into a clean and dry kit and hit the trails on the mtb for another hour afterwards. Trails were muddy in places, but still had fun.

Tuesday Night Worlds. I should be happy about it since I had my best wattage for a TNW but I'm not. My descending was atrocious; I got passed by about 30 people. About 8 less pounds and a bit more confidence on the bike (I really didn't do any pack riding or fast descending in the last 2 years) and I'll be fire.
Also didn't sleep well, the wind was crazy and screwed up my allergies, so I guess its not that bad.

3 hours today, at 100% (enjoyment level that is)

did a couple of workouts today, 1st was part of the trainerroad curriculum, 60mins z2 with a couple of 20sec sprints. my tsb isn't very far deeply negative despite being at the end of a block so I jumped onto a 1 lap race on zwift, got a good mix of effort, managed to bridge up from one group to another one further up the road. 271w NP (97%) for 25mins and definitely more in the tank, makes me feel pretty good ahead of Saturday's race.

Also 2x20's at a moderate ~96% this morning. In the middle of two big weeks of training and didn't want to force them as high as possible like usual and it was refreshing to just go off feel.
