Just a nice ride.

Went out yesterday with the idea of just getting in a few miles as it was 97* and very humid. I have four segments laid out on my Strava but decided to not get into that mindset and just have a nice ride. Thought the "Compass" ride would be a good ride, four legs in the N-S-E-W directions. Headed east and hit a nice headwind so that just reinforced my conviction to just have a nice ride. Reached the turnaround point of the eastern leg, stopped and had some water, and headed back out. The gear changes went smooth, the wind was at my back, the road was clear and I had momentum. Hit the bottom of a long hill and headed up the other side. Dropped from the big ring ro the small, and made a two cog rear gear change as smooth as if I knew what I was doing, I never do that, and headed up the other side of the hill. Turned the round-a-bout and dumped it into high gear. Another steep hill and then that long grinding hill I never gear correctly for but not this time. It flashes through my mind that I have a real good run going here, for me at least, so I decide to push harder. I make the last turn toward the dead end and I am pedaling for all I am worth which at this point ain't much. Roll around the circle and stop for a water break. Check the Strava readout and realize I have just done a new personal best for that leg. I also realize I have fried my legs and am sweating like a dog and am also about three miles and two big hills from home. Crap. But I have a new PR!!!
Frank.

@Helderberg, don't you just love it when everything aligns just right? Congrats on an epic ride.

What's it like?
