Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Free Shipping unlocked! What do you throw on an online order?

and.. just to combine with the ole fave thread topic of chain lube.. I added a bottle of Rock n Roll "Holy Cow" -- I usually use the Gold and have never heard of this Holy Cow, so was intrigued. Typically I add a tube or a pair of socks.. but thought I'd mix it up a bit.

What small items do you usually add to get an order over the minimum threshold to not have to pay for shipping?

I feel like the only truly correct answer here would be: a bike.

Depends on how far off I am. It could mean brake pads or a set of cables or even something as cheap as a patch kit.

I try to wait for a few extra consumables that I might need... and my orders often get big.

A few spare tubes.
Spare tires?
Spare Cassettes?
Spare Chains?
Spare Quick Links?
Spare Brake Pads?

Sometimes I'll just watch for sale items. So, if I can get any of the things on my watch list incredibly cheap, I'll pounce. 10% off the whole order sales?

I've already purchased a bunch of cable housing in bulk, as well as quite a few cables. I do have some issues with Campy vs Shimano cables, but I've learned how to grind down Shimano cables to fit Campy.

I like the Phil grease, but I'm going to try a couple of auto parts store grease types... hopefully I'll find something I like.

Consumables that have to be replaced on a predictable basis.

For example:

Disc brake pads and rotors, since I burn through these on a regular basis.

Chains.

SRAM GX 12-speed derailleurs

I was doing some spring cleaning and found a pair of Castelli socks I didn't know I had. So I guess put me down for that one too. Bet they were on clearance ... 5 years ago.
