My head's too big
I bought one of these... https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5063-4...ce-mips-helmet ...mail order.
Kinda' tight like it fits narrow better than round and no extra pads to swap were included(!).
Anyone has one of these - chances padding will pack out a little?

I doubt it. Send it back and take the lumps for your OJT about helmet selection.

Yep, I don't think I've ever had a helmet get looser over time. Different brands fit different shape heads, and for that reason I don't tend to buy a helmet online unless I've already had one of that brand and size that fit me before.

Giro has gone long and narrow similar to Specialized, so they fit my deceivingly large noggin now. Maybe that's the type of design you need? And fwiw, a friend has that Smith helmet and he said it was hot.

I too have a giant round noggin and need helmets designed with a rounder fit (a/k/a Asian fit). The only current helmet that fits OK is the Lazer Sphere MIPS. Still does not fit as well as the (now discontinued) Kask Mojito XL.

This is why you TRY ON HELMETS before you buy them and you generally buy them from the place you tried it on. Any safety items especially those you need to try on, you need to actually try them on. However maybe you have friends or family that need a new helmet. Please don't return it, nobody wants your old helmet and while you might have a brand new one maybe someone else decides to crash in their new helmet and return it and that shop has no idea and decides to resell it...
My head really loves Lazer helmets but that doesn't matter so much as we might have different head shapes and you still need to try it on.

All the ones I have worked at have carried XLs I cannot imagine why they wouldn't? I know plenty of people who come in with big heads and I know I have tried some helmets that would be perfect in an XL. Shame on them.

Edit to note that my Smith Forefront 2 does have a couple vents that aren't obstructed by KOROYD, but fewer than most helmets and it is kind of hot.

My head is like my feet -- I don't think of buying something to go on either without trying it on.
Yeah, I know I may end up paying more -- if the shoe or helmet fits. But shipping, and return shipping, adds up if the shoes or helmet doesn't fit the first time. Or the second.

I couldn't try it on the two MEC stores in my city didn't have stock but their warehouse did cost me nothin' to have it delivered tried it on didn't fit took less than half hour to whistle down to store and exchange it for credit plus four (4) White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cliff bars and the wife was noone the wiser!
I'm awesome.
