6/10 - Yes (finally!)

25 miles late in the afternoon. Did some Sleepy Hollow hill repeats. Familiarity helps with hills. I didn't use the bailout up Hickory Hollow, even hitting it 3 times. Not too long, but enough to burn the lungs each time. Again, thanks to cyclpsycho for tipping me to these steeps in our own backyard!

Little rail-trail action with my son. Was a loosen-up ride as we were off to the zoo for the afternoon. More this week to come.

Sorry a day late. Commuted in. Rabbit raced me again. Way too many geese for public safety. Fastest commute in to date. Legs were dead from hard ride and run on the weekend.

On ride home wife called and told me to come straight to the doctors - no shower. Spent the night in the hospital with my son.

Now that he's out and we can't take him to daycare that rules out riding for the rest of the week....except maybe Friday....then aham can pick me up on the way to the Horrible Hilly....

6/12 - Yes.

Rode 28 miles in Barrington Hills. Nice rolling terrain. Even at rush hour, cars were very concious of bikes on the roads there. Very nice.

6/13 - 18 miles. Got my new Astrale 8 with cadence and was out there riding...trying to spin those cranks
PITA to get both the wheel and crank sensors to work...I still have my Vetta on the front (no cadence) and that was a lot easier to setup.

36 miles / 17mph -- i guess you could call this my final HHH prep. headed out at 6pm after making dinner. saved mine for after the ride. went a bit harder then yesterday, but really just wanted to spin it real good. everything is really tight on me and i hope the next two off days bring some relief of that. either way, next up is 124 miles and 12000 feet of climbing. later.

6/15 - Yes. Commute in. Saw a Maserati in downtown St. Chucks. No rabbit chasing today. Saw a pretty good sized doe near St Chucks as well.

Broke my own land speed record for the commute in. Wasn't trying, but I bested my best time in by almost 2 minutes = 0.5mph. Couldn't even feel it. It's going to be a good day.

6/15 Nope. Yesterday I got my crash in for the year while riding easy with some friends. Broke a pedal while out of the saddle and over the bars I went. Just got a few bruises and added to my legacy of being accident prone. Also got the recognition of being a 'strong rider' among these friends because I could out still out ride them with just one leg. (of course I finished the ride ! )

6/16 - 36 Miles. Did the Janesville Pie Ride in Winsonsin. It was a good time. Hotter than Hell and way more hills than I am used to so it was good training. Next weekend is my 2 day ride. Le Tour De Shore. 58 the first day and 28 the second. I just got into riding this year so hopefully I will be ready.

6/18 = Commute

Was feeling kind of bad about not doing more distance on the HHH and overeating on my way up to the ride in anticipation of riding at least 100 miles. Got a deep massage yesterday morning (father's day gift) and did that 1 hr "recovery ride" at 10 mph with the family.

I figured I'd feel like $1million today - not the case. I had nothing in me. No deep power, etc. I found myself slinging along in the small rig for a lot of the ride in this morning.

I left at a different time so I wasn't sure how I was doing time wise so I swapped over to Avg Speed to get a rough idea. It read 13.8 ! WTF happened??!!

I was killing myself and only turning out the slowest ride I have ridden all season.

I finished up and got into work in a fairly bad mood. Then I started to log my commute and I noticed something. The total time was for 2.5 hours. Hmmm....that's not right. I check my HRM and notice that the time for the ride in was actually 4 minutes faster than normal.

SONNUVA - I forgot to reset the computer from my father's day ride. Moral of the story: forget about your computer, for those that can't do that well, at least reset it at the beginning of the ride.

CyLowe....got any of that high tech blue painter's tape I could borrow??

Bestest, cheapest, greatest training aid out there, my friend.

Powertaps and SRMs and Polars and Garmins are useless against the power of CyLowe's Patented Blue Tape Training Method™.

I've got a three-pack I'll sell you for, let's say.... $30. That's a downright bargain compared to the other possibilities!!!
