Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice on new bike

I would like to build a new bike. I sold my Giant TCR2 Comp for the cash when I lost my job awhile back. Now that I am back up and running I would like to build one from the ground up for the learning experience.

I would like to purchase the frame first and work my way up from there.

I am looking for some input on both what frame/brand to buy and where to purchase it online.

I am looking to spend about $250 or less for the frame. I have no preference if used or new.

Here is how I will be using the bike. I ride about 20-45 miles on the days I ride. I will be doing a few 3 day 175 mile rides sag supported but would like the option of using saddle bags if I wanted to. I ride on finely crushed limestone (prairie path) and streets.

I already have a mountain bike so am looking to build something that is more road worthy.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!
