Hardtail for DH?
We'll be in Oregon this summer, golf and road-biking in Bend, some easy DH on Hood -- Timberline-to-Town, Skibowl -- and Bachelor. Has anyone ridden hardtails there? I'm talking basic/middling flow stuff. I'm taking my roader and mtb and looking to save a few days of rental on a dual. I'll be with a total neophyte friend (who will rent), so we aren't going all kamikaze. Thanks.

I spent the last 7 years in Central Oregon and yes you can use a hardtail just fine. In fact, with the pummy soils and lots of climbing ops, the hardtail is a good choice. I rode mostly a hardtail while there and really miss it. Some great bike shops in Bend also. It's a large riding community. Enjoy!
