What's your average speed on your commute?
Hi!
I would like to know what your average speed is on your daily commute. I do a 23km (14 mile) round trip at an average of 20 kph most days (12 mph). If people could post in KPH as well as MPH that would kida help! I am commuting in central tokyo on a Merida hybrid that I put thinnies and pull bars on. It takes me about 1 hour 10 mins return.

19.8 today on the way in. It will be about 18.5 on the way home as thats more uphill. 14 miles round trip, though I did 12 this morning just for some extra riding. I was actually at 20.3mph until I hit 3 stoplights in downtown.

22 kph on a mountain bike running slicks.
Up to 24 if I get all the green lights.
20 kph on a fully loaded Monday morning.

14-15 KPH on the way in. 28-30 KPH on the way home. Can you guess which way the hills are?

about 15.50 to 16mph going to work and 13.5 to 14.5 coming home. I usualy have more energy coming home and most of the small hills are going up.

About 6 miles (10 km) each way in artound half an hour. That's 20 kph / 12 mph. This includes all stoplights.

18 miles in 1 hour 10 minutes. This has been my average commute for the last 10 years. Works out to 15.4 mph, with cruising speed of around 20 mph.
edit: 18 miles (28.8 km) each way. 15.4 mph = 25 km/hr. 20 mph = 32 km/hr.

10.2 miles, at 22 kph, this morning.
25.5 kph, this evening. Dunno how that worked out, though - going home is upriver and against the wind..
I ride a Supercaliber 29er, with fat Notos knobbies.
Here's a calculator for those of us without computers.

On the way to work I don't want to sweat so I keep it below 10 mph, the warmer the weather the slower the ride.
On the way home I pick things up and am around 14 mph.

17-18 MPH (27-29 KPH) My ride is flat, I gain about 300 ft over 20 miles. The return is into a headwind, yet I still seem to make about the same time. I guess it's the 300 ft of downhill ;-)

17mph but I have about 50-60 lights and stop signs that I have to run, so that slows things down considerably hehe.

My commute is 6.5 miles each way. It's a gradual uphill almost the entire distance to work so I usually average 11 mph. On the way back I'll average 14 mph.

12-14 when feeling slow, 14-16 most days, 17-20 on good days. Top speed, 35 mph. My slowest average was around 7 mph when it was pounding down snow.
Keeping track helps me measure my fitness. It's not a race, but it is (in part) about keeping fit.

5.5 miles depending on weather, traffic, lights, my engine it's between 17-21 minutes. Add two minutes going home for climbing "the wall".
