Any suggestions for a Hybrid???
Hi new to the forum, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a new Hybrid bike. I currently have a 1991 Cannondale M400 Mountain bike Lg frame that I've somewhat converted to a Hybrid with road tires raiser handlebars ect. and I love the way it rides but I'd like to get something with a bit more speed. I mainly road ride 4 to 5 times a week averaging 5 to 10 miles each day. I love the speed of a road bike but can't ride bent over for long periods of time. I've started a search for a new lg / ex.lg frame hybrid unless someone here has other options I may not have considered. I've looked at a Cannondale Adventure, Trek X-caliber, Cannondale Quick 3,4,5,6. Also price is a factor, trying to stay in the $700-$800 range. Thanks any info would be appreciated.

Bikes Direct seems a bit controversial here, but I've been eyeing this category on their site for a while...
Prices ascending:
https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...e-disc-pro.htm
https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...ke-bike-ix.htm
https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...ke-flatbar.htm
If you don't mind wrenching on your own stuff this might be a good option. (Or have a LBS do the out of box setup.)

Thanks Synack42, I will read up on the Motobecane brand since it's new to me, but they do look like nice bikes for the price!

I recommend Trek Multitrack, 930 and above. They make great road, touring, and commuter bikes.

I got a used trek multitrack 7200 at my lbs, new chain and cassette, under $ 300. Not sure about current equivelent, but it is a great bike.

This is the OP's bike from the catalog
With slick tires already on this bike, i don't think you'll go much faster (if at all) with a modern hybrid. Depending on what tires you bought, the money may be better spent on better tires and removing the riser bars (depending on how high you went).

Any suggestions for a Hybrid???
FWIW, from personal experience, I would make this recommendation. I ride a large frame myself.

...Now here’s where I’m coming from. I have described myself as a decades-long, year-round lifestyle cyclist, and my favored bike is a high-end carbon fiber bike costing thousands of dollars..
I also have a aluminum beater road bike costing about $1500, and for me that was a minimal road bike, to be used in bad weather.
FWIW, I also have a Giant Escape hybrid bike [stock photo]that I recently bought for rehabilitation, because I was having trouble with my neck and shoulders riding the drop bars.
That bike cost about $600, and IMO was a good value as an all-round bike, certainly more amenable to off-road [and gravel] riding than my expensive carbon fiber road bike, and sturdy for my urban commute on the mean streets of Boston.

Addendum from current thread, “Looking for a Road Bicycle $3500 or less”
The hybrid I bought does have QR axles and disc brakes.

My only suggestion is to buy a bike with current standards. I recently bought a Giant hybrid with the old style QR axles. It's hard to find a reasonably priced replacement set without going full custom.
So, 12mm through axles, tubeless wheels, and *gasp* disc brakes. The rest is just about how a bike fits and feels for you and your body type.
