Vintage tools from local classifieds

Scanning Nextdoor on Friday afternoon, I came across an ad for vintage tools, including a truing stand, lots of freewheel removers, lots of cone wrenches, headset press, nipple driver, etc. Toolbox included, too. Well worth what I considered a fair price. I only have a couple of “What’s this” items.

But what are these ones?

I’d appreciate some advice on the following, as I’m not sure what they are.

Item 1

Items 4 and 5, which clearly do the same thing, but what?

Items 4 & 5 are clamps, or small vises, to hold a wheel axle. The axle is held in the clamp, then the clamp held in a bench vise.

Third-hand brake tool. The best, IMO, but doesn't work with modern deep-profile rims.

Rim dent smoother. Works best with steel rims, but can also help with minor dents in aluminum rims.

Item 1 was most often used to install hard rubber tricycle tires after soaking in hot water.

IMO item #2 was the very best 3rd hand tool. Still very useful today.

#3 was used quite a lot in practice. For when people ride over a curb with their UO8 or other steel rimmed bike and dent the rim. There would be a little flared out spot where the rim sidewalls stick out.
Occasionally useful with aluminum rims also, as mentioned.

Back in my shop days, we used #1 to set the tire bead on particularly stubborn rims, especially Schwinn S7 for some reason. #3 was also really useful for massaging dents in rims.
