L. A. Sherriff's Medici bicycle
So I spotted a black and white Medici that, I guess, was a bike used on the L.A. Sherrif's bike team. At least it has the L.A. Sherriff's decal on it. Was wondering if Medici made the bikes that the team used in the 90s. Might be interested in buying it but was wondering about the team and the bikes they used.

I found this image of a race in 1992 by googling. Does it look like the second rider's bike? It's a bit hard to see...

I remember the L.A. Sheriff's team from back in the day racing in SoCal. They were the Chevrolet-L.A. Sheriff's Team. They had some really good riders in the late-80s through the mid-90s. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything about the team bikes.

I raced against the L.A. Sheriffs team in the late 80's early 90's. They were a fixture at the Ziggurat crits. They did ride Medici's at that time, as did I. Jeff Pierce, who won the final stage of 1987 TdF, road for them later in his career. The picture posted above looks as though it was taken at the Zig, and that could be Jeff as well - the other guy might be Roberto Gagiolli. If you look him up in Wikipedia there is a picture of him wearing his LA Sheriffs kit and riding a Medici.
I owned two Medici's, one Tange Prestige and the second Columbus SL. The Tange one was a little whippy and would auto-shift during sprints. The Columbus frame rode great and was more stiff. They were both beautiful bikes though, both very well made and well painted. As mentioned before though, they don't have a very high resale value.

Are you serious? I must have posted about this connection atleast a 2 or 3 dozen times. I thought the bikes were yellow and green though.
Back in the very early '90s or very late '80s there was a big spread in one of the cycling magazine about the LA Sheriff/LA Cheverlot team. I recall they rode Medici frames but not much else.
Personally I would not mind trying one, the ones I recall from the article and have seen here always seemed like nice bikes.

thanks very much for all the info.....i may get this one, although the guy wants some serious coin...it does have mostly c record including delta brakes but alas,,,chorus hubs. I guess a LA Sherrif team bike isnt quite as desirable as a 7-11 team bike

No it isn't since it was only a regional Amateur and semi Pro (like Cat2s). I personally would not mind trying a Medici sometime. the onese shown here on the forum and the apprasail forum look very nice and the price is usually pretty low compared to the fancy Italians

Talk to Steve Lubanski at Open Road Bicycles in Pasadena. I think the original Open Road shop (in Alhambra) was also a sponsor for LA Sheriffs/Chevrolet around 1990.

I rode for Chevrolet LA Sheriff's for five years. I started the women's racing team in Southern California. Medici was our sponsor the whole time racing. John Simonetti was making the bicycles at that time had several track bikes road bikes. Really great product they're still making them. So if you're looking for a custom bike they're the guys.

I know this is a zombie thread but the original team bikes were black and white Medicis.; then they changed to green and yellow. After that the team bikes were Lightspeeds. I recently saw Jeff Pierce at the Pro Road Championships, he works for USA cycling now. To be clear, I was on the lower tier amateur team based out of the mid-west and was not the caliber of rider that Jeff, Tom, Steve, Jamie, Malcom and the others on the pro squad were.
