I am looking to buy a new set of tires and I think I have it narrowed down to two. I'm looking for something light but that is still usable for day to day. The two I am looking at are the Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 and the Veloflex Corsa. Does anyone have experience with these, or would you suggest anything else?

Those are fast wearing race tires. For day to day, go with something a bit more durable. Conti GP4000S are fairly durable and light. Michelin Krylions are fairly light and long wearing.

The GP4000s are a good choice for durability (although, personally i don't really dig the look of the Contis, flame away)... but i ride the Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 as a daily tire and they are really sick! Sure you'll spend more b/c you'll have to replace them fairly often, but they ride so well and grip like mad, it's totally worth it to me. Check out the Schwalbe ZX... from what i understand they are just as light and awesome as the R.1 but a bit more durable.

The Conti GP4000 is as close to a do it all tire that I know of.

The quality really went downhill a few years ago. You can probably search and find numerous threads on how bad they were with crooked casings and bulges. I read somewhere their sales are about 10% of what they used to be.

Thanks for all the comments. I have P3R right now and they have been good tires. The only other tire I have ever tried is the GP4000s and had two sidewalls blow out, so I gave up on them. There are just so many tire choices out there that I thought I would try something else. I'm just trying to find a tire a little lighter than the Michelin that would still be a good day to day tire.

I use the Corsa on a set of track wheels and they are great. I think they only make them in 19 or 20mm though (I could be wrong).

On a road bike I've used the Corsa on the front, matched with a Veloflex Black on the back. These are race wheels, not day to day. The front was fine, but the back I'd kill one about every 1,500-2,000km. Regardless great tires for racing - training probably not so much.

GP4000s get my vote for all round do everything.

If you are set on ultralights, Vittoria Diamante Pro slicks, Conti Supersonics are both good.

Thanks again for the comments. I decided to buy the Veloflex Corsa 22mm and give them a try. I found them at Probikekit for $62 for the pair. Advertised weight is 180 grams. I ordered them on Friday and then had two flats with my Michelins today, I think they know they are going to be replaced.
