Picture of housing out of cable stop

Hey all, I'm trying to help my dad adjust his shifting by email. I'd like to send him a picture of cable housing, in a ferrule, that has come out of its stop and is riding the edge of the stop, so I can explain to him, the housing must be everywhere all the way in the ferrules, and the ferrules all the way in the stops.

I searched images.google.com but couldn't find a good close-up, preferably labeled (stop, ferrule, housing, cable)

Can anybody find me a picture I can send him?

thx

Why don't you take the picture?

I don't smartphone, so it's not that easy.

When I get home tonight I could pull my own housing out of its stop to stage a picture, find the camera in my wife's purse, discover that its battery is dead, hunt down the charger, wait for it to charge, take a picture, hunt down a usb cable, copy the picture off the camera, and send it to him, but if I can find one online it would be a lot easier.

Kudos to your trying to help your dad. Park Tools has really good maintenance videos. Send him a link https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...yzTOjLtv7yT47O. and he can select the one that would answer his question(s). It might eliminate his next question/problem once he gets the ferrule into the cable stop. That could be good or bad, depending on your relationship.

Oh I've sent videos. We're like 30 emails into this, as well as an in-person hands-on cable reattachment and tuning session when he was in town this summer (on a different bike).

So you want me to go home tonight, pull my own housing out of its stop to stage a picture, find the camera in my wife's purse, discover that it's battery is dead, hunt down the charger, wait for it to charge, take a picture, hunt down a usb cable, copy the picture off the camera, and send it to you. Why not find a body online to do all this.

No I want you (or somebody) to know exactly where there is already such a picture online and send me a link.

But if you want to do all that for me, that would also be great. Or you could just snap a smartphone pic and post it, that would probably be easier.

I think Dad likely has a good Karma account balance with his kid from wiping butt. Andy
