I gave up on tights this year. I had several pair but they just didn't fit right no matter what the brand. They were not the bib type. Since I only wear bib shorts I didn't want two sets of straps. So, I went to Bontrager leg warmers. I have found that the left leg works perfectly but the right will slide down an inch or two. Never really a functional problem and nowhere near coming out from under the shorts. So, for me they are pretty good. I wanted to go with Assos padded bib tights but at $300 or more that's not happening. Any recommendations for other brands. Not inclined to Pearl btw. Capo, Craft, ?

Bib tights without a chamois for winter & Pearl leg warmers for spring / fall. I've never had any issues. I 'd try a different size or make sure they are far enough up the thigh. As well, when I put mine on, I put them on before my bibs (don't know if this make a difference or not).

Try Under Armour brand of tights. Its not bike specific and that's the good thing about them. You'll need to wear both bike shorts and the tights. Tights go on first.

The alternative is, rather than just pull them on from the top, grab a bunch to the bottom cuff, and work up the leg letting go a bit of the fabric every couple of inches until you get to the top.

Of course, if you bought the warmers and have lost weight since then, you might need to go a size lower, or find a seamstress to bring in the tops half an inch or so.
I will estimate: that you will claim that your legwarmers never excessively stretch-out. In which replacement be needed.
Had you done the above procedure or not done the above procedure.

I had the same problem with the PI leg warmers. You can solve the problem by folding the bottom of the shorts such that it folds the top of the leg warmer into it. This will lock the leg warmer in place. I now wear Gore leg warmers. They never slide down. They are a little smaller than others. I wear a medium in everything else but need a large for the Gore warmers.

Utter and complete nonsense!!!!!!!! Your buddy at the LBS is full of it. The beauty of warmers is their versatility. They take care of so many different situations and changing conditions and can be easily stowed. Tights are for extreme circumstances.

I use arm warmers as I find them to be the perfect solution to the weather and are very easy to take off. My legs are usually left exposed as long as it is not a frigid temperature, and then I am using a non thermal tight for that. For really cold days, thermal tights.

By all means do whatever works for you! I just often find myself doing a 5-6 hour ride a with temps starting at about 40 degrees F and warming to the 60's half way through. Warmers make for an easy and compact mid ride clothing adjustment.

Starting in the 40's and you know it will be in the 60's? No way I would wear anything but shorts on a ride that long in that type of weather. Tights for me come out when it is below about 25°F and will stay that way for the ride.

This happened to me after few years used of leg warmer . I got a pack of white elastic band from the dollar store , measured , sewed both ends . On the next ride , put the elastic band over the top end of the leg warmer and then bib shorts over it . No slippage so far .

This. I was having this issue and it was driving me crazy. MY solution was to wear my base layer under the bibs and pin the legwarmers to the base layer and then put the bibs on. Sounds a bit fredlike but it works. Haven't had a problem since.

Interesting solutions..

I actually fold the top of the leg warmers down so the gripper is towards the short and then pull my bibs down over them so the two grippers kind of interlock (not face to face, top and, well top I guess but folded to be the bottom)

There are two types of Under Armour tights: cold gear and heat gear. For So Calif I just use the lighter version. Lots of compression and very breathable where counts.

I didn't read all the responses, but I've had similar issues with leg warmers.
I guess guys like us just don't have massive guads.
The thing I do is I pull the leg warmers ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CROTCH.
I don't stop mid thigh. That means I have to put them on BEFORE the bib shorts.
But even using this method, if the warmers aren't tight enough, they still will crawl down the leg.
I have two pairs of Hammer Nutrition leg warmers. I don't even like the design, but they run small and tight so that works for me.

Do these UA tights have a seam running down the middle?

Logical, but I'd sew on some velcro, soft side on the shorts of course.

I've never had it happen though; perhaps mine are too tight (or others, too loose?)

Craft arm and leg warmers since 2011 used in numerous marathons, half marathons under very loose running shorts plus thousands of bicycle miles still holding up fine.

I'll try pulling them legwarmers way up high, then try safety pins, skip the nail gun and duct tape. Failing that:

I will have to check. Mine is the Heat Gear which means its meant to be worn in warm temps on bare skin.

My stoker uses safety pins on hers. Try a different brand, different size. If you get just a least little bit of sweat going, it helps, your skin isn't as dry. Sometimes, they'll fall down like everything when you're walking, and stay up for hours when you're riding. If all else fails, tights. Some people split the difference and use the calf-length tights, can't think what they're called right off.
