Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Anyone cut a couple inches off end of bars?

As title states. I've started using my gravel bike on relatively tame single track. It's a blast. I'm slower than I would be on my mountain bike, but having much more fun. One issue I have is that when I get to slow stuff where I have to power over a big root or rock and get out of the saddle. I'll hit my knees on the bar ends about 2-3 times per hour. I'm thinking of just cutting them off a couple inches. Can't really think of a negative but wanted to ask before I did something with unexpected consequences. TIA.

Flared bars, maybe?

But if it's a cheap one on there now, just cut 'em. You'll just be giving up one hand position, and the bar won't know any different.
