They're christmas kitties, the kit comes with red bibs too...very santa-ish! You're kind of limited to the season you can wear it, but the entire kit was only $60, so I couldn't resist!
I try not to take myself too seriously...

uhhhhhh man that's disturbing. Had a fellow camp counselor tell me one time "those are some nice calves, are you a runner?" then, about a year ago, I was getting out of the shower at work and a dude coming in goes "nice leg"...I guess my other leg isn't as nice? Damn leg creepers.

Here in Australia, Christmas is in the summer, so a person could wear that the entire month of December. What fun!!
For $60, I would have gone for it too.

I haven't been made fun of yet. However, there may be a day when someone makes a comment about me (A guy) riding on a purple bike with purple bar ends. If it happens, whatever... my main goal when I get out and ride is to have fun!

That is totally wrong, I really dont pay any attention to what other people are wearing. But if they were a nude woman----------------I would. Actually the truth is that anyone that laughs at what another person is riding or wearing are rather small minded person.

I can grok that. One of my favorite bikes is a '86 Centurion Elite RS, in teal and pink, with white bar tape. I've heard it called the "Miami Vice" paint scheme.

My Rocky Mountain is purple. I never really thought about it. If the rider at Black Rock ever made fun of it it would be because it's old and a hard tail, but I don't think they make fun of bikes or riders.

I was going to my local department store today.
To get myself a new coffee press, (I broke the old one).
I hopped on my bike (daily commuter) and was on my way.
Stopped at a traffic lite and noticed a large group of cyclists on the opposite corner.
A few of them shouted something at me about my clothing, but I wasn't sure what it was all about.
They seem to all get a good laugh though.
From what I could tell. These guys were all decked out in cycling gear, riding "expensive" (at least they looked expensive to me) bikes.
I on the other hand, was wearing just a plain old t-shirt and shorts and riding my daily commuter.
It's not a "top-o-the-line ride", but I keep it in good working order and it gets me from point a to point b quickly.
As we rode by each other. Some one shouted "Nube!", and again another roar of laughter.
I've been riding nonstop since I was a kid and I'm 50+ years old now.
Needless to say...
I got my new coffee press and I hope I never see these guys again.
What a downer that was. :-(
Am I alone, with this type of treatment form other "cyclists"?

I was on one of the large local fast group rides with my carbon bike and lycra/roadie kit. One of the others points and pokes fun of my unshaven legs and Fred mirror. I thought it was funny.

I get teased every so often for one piece of clothing: a rainbow-striped world champions jersey. Yes, a true faux pas. Why do I wear it?
It was a gift from my wife. She didn't know anything about the meaning, she just liked the colors.

To the OP, must be an Arizona thing. There are way too many cyclists of all types here in the National Capital area for any cyclist to make fun of another, unless it is within their own social clique. It's rather pointless of UCI-wannabes to make fun of someone who is obviously not trying to achieve their standard.

How 'bout a Purple Heart issued for the hurt feelings and suffering caused by the verbal sticks and stones allegedly hurled by cycling desperadoes?
