1963 Schwinn American Urban Klunker/Cruiser
Picked up a clean 63 American. Stripped it down and added SE Big Honkin bars and a generous blue BMX stem. For a wheelset I used knockoff Araya 7X hoops laced to Sturmey Archer drum hubs and HD spokes with ThickSlicks
. The cranks and BB are original 63 Schwinn and I used Odyssey triple trap pedals. The saddles is a Gyes leather. I’ll probably swap all of the parts over to a 66 twin top tube Rollfast after I get it powder coated. This was a quick build and cruised very smooth!

Very nice. Besides being effective, drum hubs make a lot of practical sense when building, as they avoid any issues with rim/brake compatibility. And... your rims always look nice.

I like how you let the badge dictate the colour bits. Drums make so much sense when using ano rims! SA for the choice even better. Who sells them at a good price?

It is a loathsome, offensive brute. Yet I can't look away.
I love it.
I love it.

Great-looking bike! I completely forgot about those Triple-trap pedals, and we sold tons of them way back when. I'm kind of thinking about building up a Cruiser now...thanks a lot!

@Ammoyankee, from this and your Hawthorn thread, I can see a theme. And I can see you're a person who knows how to properly klunk.
Nicely done.
