Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Who ever heard of a 41/33t chainring set or a 53/34 set? But there you go over at WickWerks: https://wickwerks.com/the-junior-solution/ https://wickwerks.com/road-bike-ultr...ge-53-34-road/

Those who race juniors have heard of the 41/33.

Juniors racing has a restriction on maximum top gear. Any combination of wheel/tire, cassette and front ring cannot make the bike go more than 26 feet in one pedal revolution.

This is difficult to achieve with standard components and typically means a cassette is limited to a impossible to find 14 tooth small sprocket.

The WickWerks junior's solution is one way to meet the 26 foot rollout restriction through chainring replacement rather than cassettes. A 41/11 combo is the same as 52/14 and very close to 26 ft rollout. It solves a very specific problem for juniors racing.

I told Praxis this at Sea Otter 2018 -- they told me the demand isn't there for smaller chain rings. Then they went off on how they won't make something that doesn't shift 110% perfectly. That one needs lower grearing and finds that more important than the PERFECT front shift just did't penitrate their skulls. They dismissed the Sugino OX sub-compact dual-chainring cranks as not working (shifting) well and they wouldn't follow that path.

I know fully well *why* WickWerks makes the 41/33 combo. My response was about others finding odd numbered rings "weird".

Just because Shimano or Campy doesn't (didn't) make that combo doesn't mean it isn't useful and desired by others.

Note that Lennard didn't research his answer very well. Shimano does indeed make a "jr. racing" 11-speed cassette, the Ultegra 14-28T (14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-23-25-28), which I also find useful for old-guys cyclocross. See https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-CS0004-04-ENG.pdf

Praxis has made a name for itself making rings that are only second to shimano in shifting performance. If I was them I wouldn't compromise on that for a very small niche of riders. Leave that market to other companies.

I misunderstood or misread your post.

Sorry.
