Love that dirty water...
I shipped up to Boston a long time ago, but I’m back into more serious biking recently. I’m rocking an ‘86 Centurion Ironman (Road) a 2003 Surly Pacer (commute) and a custom aluminum backup road bike from my time in Japan. Just happy to be here.

Dittoes. I have posted to other cycling newcomers to Boston:
I happened to notice the title of your Introduction as I was scrolling through New Posts, and I immediately got the reference.

For a nice, friendly Metro Boston hang-out on BikeForums, see this thread on the Regional Discussion Forum, “Metro Boston: Good ride today? (link),” started in 2009, with over 7000 replies.
Also, I have posted a "Cyclists Guide to Metro Boston" (link), with information about road cycling, bikepaths, and taking your bike on the (T) (subway) and Commuter Rail.
By way of introduction, I’m a decades long lifestyle cyclist…year-round commuting, road cycling and touring.

BTW, I don’t list my location under my avatar, but it is “D’uh” [in Kenmore Square].

Whenever I see a series of nested quotes, I think "it's Jim from 'Duh' again." …
My experience is that people drive differently in every city and treat cyclists very differently. The best advice often comes from cyclists that live the closest to you …
The exception here would also be Jim from Boston--anyone that can successfully commute around Boston has my full respect and probably knows how to deal with about every intersection imaginable!

It was one of my most pleasant cycling days in 40 years of cycling, to ride with @jppe [at the end of his cross country ride from Oregon], and to direct his wife in the van to various locations and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean…
His description of [our] ride was spot on, though in referring to the Charles River as “Dirty River,” the actual term is “Dirty Water” as in the 1960’s song by the Standells, “Love That Dirty Water.”
It’s a virtual Bostonian anthem, played at all the Red Sox home games.

Welcome. I learned something too about the origin of Dirty Water.
