Help me choose a hybrid bike

Hi folks,
I need a hybrid bike mostly for the city rides (commuting, for fun, rarely outside of the city), sometimes I will face sidewalks, trails (probably easy ones), and stares. Thinking about Trek Dual Sport series and Trek FX series, as well as Cube Hyde/SL series. I want it to be quite comfortable and effective to ride (I am currently owning a hardtail 27,5" bike and it feels kind of bulky for the city for me). I am not sure what suits me best, please help me to choose. Additional bike brand suggestions are also acceptable.

Edit: I'm looking for bikes between 600 - 1000 USD.

I have an older Trek hybrid with a suspension fork similar to the Dual Sport...fork is fairly primitive but often I can cruise comfortably on bumpy sidewalks & paths without slowing down as with a rigid-fork bike.

You might be lucky to find much of anything in stock right now. Check with your LBS. Otherwise may be better to make what you have work for now. Enjoy the ride
