Extend wire on Cateye

Switched to a recumbent several months ago. My cateye is now a loooonnggg way from my 60-year-old eyes.

Can any of you geeks give me advice on how to extend the length of the probe wire?

Learn How to Carefully strip the insulation off the wires without cutting the wire and use heat shrink tubing to cover the join you are to make, and a little solder to splice in a section of similar wire.

Those wires are very fine single stranded, sometimes braided, and very fragile wires. Even if you are very careful, stripping insulation off of cables that small will most likely end up with breaking some of the wires in the cable. I don't know what kind of computer you have, but some wired computers are made for recumbent bikes and trikes. Cateye used to have an optional, extended harness for use with recumbents but I don't know if it's still offered and what model(s) they are available for. However, most of the recumbent bikes and trikes that I've seen, including my wife's trike, use wireless computers, especially if they are tracking cadence. Many also use a speed and cadence sensor connected to their phone, using Bluetooth, and use a cycling app rather than a bike computer.
