Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am too. I suffer from the-grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side-syndrome sometimes, I gotta make sure I don't let myself sell this one. I know I'll regret it and I haven't regretted selling a bike yet..

Thanks for the comment. As for wheels, I went with the Race TLR's. I have a set of RXL's on my Madone 3.1 that I'll swap over when the Domane arrives. The Race's will then go on the Madone.

Very nice, I picked up a set of the RL TLR this past summer and set up tubeless with Bontrager R3's, fantastic change in ride quality from my other wheels (not sure if it's the wider brake track or the tubeless). If you haven't tried tubeless highly recommend.

I agree with you on the tubeless ride quality. I have run my RXL's tubeless since the day that I got them in January 2013.

This '85 460 was my #1 roadie for 11 summers. Had to let it go recently with completion of my cannondale crit. The Trek went to a happy home locally. This bike needed to be enjoyed rather than sitting in my shop.

Here is my 2.1 with full SRAM (mostly APEX). As you may be able to see from the photos I now have the Bontrager TLR Race Lite wheels paired with AW3 tires. Also upgraded is a carbon seatpost and SRAM Rival brakes.

My 2012 Madone 4.6c with Sram Rival. Upgraded the saddle to a Bontrager Paradigm RL, Easton EL90SL carbon clinchers, Conti GP4000S tires and Look classic pedals.

My son's Madone 6.7 with Sram Force.

I love that 4.6! Great bike for the price (coming from a SRAM fan).

Agreed.... I waited 2 months for the 2012 4.6 because I wanted Rival over 105. I also got the bike through my son who worked at a shop and got it with the "mechanic's discount". The wheels were also a deal, the store bought 10 sets. It was the last set and they wanted to make room for new inventory. They were too cheap to pass up.

It's an anagram and it's deliberate. Just like:

I was tempted to buy that 4.6 recently, dealer in Chicago has them left and will sell them for $1799, but very happy with my loaded 2.1. Probably will wait another hear or two and pick up a 5 series. The 2014 Madone 5.9 is built perfectly in my mind with Red 22 and I love the color scheme.

I can tell you that's below what the shop paid for it and a good deal.

But a Madone 5.9 with Red 22 is killer and will cost twice as much.

Here is my wife's Lexa 2011 Lexa SLX (5700 Shimano 105). Last year my wife decided she wanted a road bike so I started watching craigslist. Saw this one listed for $850. Turns out the previous owner bought it to do a triathlon and found out she did not enjoy road biking at all. I would be shocked if the bike had 200 miles on it and we ended up buying it for $725.
