It's official, he can also climb. Pretty solid performance, left the likes of Carapaz, Yates, Landa in the dust (Vuelta a Burgos 2020 Stage 3).

Another GC win on his resumé with the Tour of Poland. Just absolutely obliterating the field with a well planned attack on stage 4 to take a commanding lead.
I think everyone put their money on the wrong Poel. It should have been on Evene instead of van der.

Looking at ProCyclingStats . this was his 1st WT race and attacked and held from 50K?! Then his other 3 Po.2 races he won. I know cyclists are measured on what they win, not what they DNF or don't do so well on but I have not see a start to the season line this by anyone.
The real real hard call is what to do for that race that starts Aug 29. I don't know when the roster closes.
5 day stage races and 20+ Grand Tours are different, but we have not seen anything yet to say his results will be different. I'd love to see it.

One must also remember this year is so condensed it provides opportunities for others to win Giro / Vuelta because of the overlap and all.

He will start the Giro and most likely how it looks right now Deceunic will go for GC with him. He is not planned for the tour and at 2.5 weeks out it seems an odd call to put him in that so shortly with serious GC aspirations.
