Yesterday was very windy and the earth was/is still saturated from a decent amount of rain the previous day. At some point during the work day this tree toppled across the South County Trailway so up and over went the bike and I. I didn’t take that route today but I am pretty sure they have cleared it by now.
One question though, and maybe you have answered this before; but what fork is that?

@DQRider Thank you! That is actually the original fork which was chromed under the paint. I just decided to leave it as fully chrome once the paint was blasted off.

Last Sunday I rode out to CX state champs at Bishop's Orchards in Guilford. The course looked brutal -- we had a ton of rain the night before.
Short ride today before getting this year's tree (that's not it).
I've got enough miles on this to say the fit is good. Time to trim the cables and wrap the bars.

Thanksgiving day ride. 51 miles, my longest ride in a very, very long time. Rode from Asheville to Black Mountain, and after getting back into Asheville, went a little further northward to get in some additional miles.
Got home, took shower, made dinner, watched Breaking Away.
Looking forward to more, longer rides in the future.

1st ride on new to me 1939 Raleigh Sports Tourist
Lots of nice bikes here! Rode my new (to me) 1939 Raleigh Sports Tourist on its maiden voyage. 4 miles to the post office. Parked and was locking up the bike, the first passerby stopped to chat about "the coolest bike I have ever seen." All original bike in original condition. . The original owner was a nuclear engineer, his son inherited it 15 years ago and just stored in the basement. . Was never stored outside. Was infrequently ridden. The tires dry rotted and stuck to the floor in 15 years. The son put ugly modern ergonomic grips on it, and new tires and tubes. Glad the paint did not rust, guess the basement is dry. The grips got taken off within minutes of getting home. Got the correct NOS 1940's torpedo grips coming from U K..

Pasadena Vintage ride today, 27.5 miles including a 3 mile warm up lap around the Rose Bowl. The warm up didn't work. Chilly and windy, at least by LA standards, 57° at the start only 63° at the end. I'll post more pictures later, but here's my old Raleigh.

We finally had a "nice" weekend of weather here in northern Illinois. For once it wasn't raining or snowing and we had calm winds and temperatures in the upper 20s.
I was looking forward to trying my new VO saddle on the Trek, and after the first 20 miles I'm definitely impressed. Hopefully after another couple hundred miles it will start to get really comfortable.

I rode with Bob Freeman and Steve Rossano this afternoon near Fall City and Carnation, WA. Temperatures were in the mid 40's with a fair amount of wind, and a little bit of sunshine. On the way back we stopped for a few photos next to the Giant Hay Bail Snowman.

You know, it's interesting to me that all of my saddles on my bikes end up with a slightly nose-up position. For whatever reason, if the saddles are perfectly level I am always sliding off the front and I end up with way too much pressure on my hands. It seems like it is always a bit more pronounced with leather saddles.
I certainly wish that I could run my saddles level, then they wouldn't look so awkward!

45 mile chilly, windy, beautiful ride along PCH to Malibu. Stopped by Pt. Mago Naval display and Magu Rock. I rode the old Super Course and met up with a guy on a repainted blue Gran Sport, updated to modernish 10 speed Campy drivetrain. Sorry, no drive side shot.

Took my Miyata 1000 out for a spin, probably the last one for awhile since there will be a lot of salt on the roads in the next few months, I will switch to something carbon or ti.
