James Dobson

Does anyone know the out come of the Dodge driver that hit and killed James Dobson? Was the driver charged or jailed?

The DA recently brought the case before a grand jury.
But the grand jury did not indict.

Which is S.O.P. anyway. Criminal charges are not a substitute for civil actions. They serve different purposes.

But at the very least the driver that hit Mr Dobson is guilty of manslaughter!!!!! That is a crime.

You don't understand how the law works. Do you even know what the legal definition of manslaughter is in the relevant jurisdiction? Just because someone died as the result of actions by a drivers does not necessarily mean the driver committed manslaughter.

Looked it up briefly. IIRC, some guy who riding across the country for charitable purposes.

People need to let go of the myth that a driver is automatically guilty of crime when a cyclist, pedestrian, or anyone else is killed in a collision.

Thanks. I immediately looked up the family therapy guy with the same name and his wiki page showed him still living. So I wondered about the background.

Nonetheless, I’m sorry to read of the cyclist’s passing.

Would it surprise you that the investigation found the driver was going 85 mph?

DA’s, especially in Mississippi don’t bring a case to a grand jury without beyond probable cause. But secrecy traditions says we’ll never know.

But hey, let go your “myth!”

The OP did not supply any facts. That aside, the myth is still a myth. Not every death is a crime. People who understand criminal law know that. You may wish things were different, but they are not.

God bye. I won't wast any more time on someone who is not interested in learning.

So if you kill someone with a car it is not a crime? If true, then we are back to my point. If you are so deranged you want someone dead, buy them a bike and run over them!!!!!

Is there not a difference between an accident AND an on purpose?

Not for someone who rants incessantly about the constructs of his own straw men arguments and who seems unable to distinguish between reality and boogeymen.

Probably only 1% of crashes are "accidents".

There are no accidents, only collisions.

I've been noticing in Toronto, the media has been (the media have been?) using the word collision in place of the word accident more often.

Definition of accident https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/accident

1a : an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance.
b : lack of intention or necessity : chance
What are the other 99%? Foreseen and planned crashes? Or intentional crashes?

Or doesn't conventional use of the English language fit your construct?

Just wondering, what do you all call going 85mph in a 65mph zone and hitting and killing someone?

Or does posting a broken record mean more to you than a dead person?

So like in this case if a cyclist is riding on the road in his lane, and a driver going 85 mph hits him from behind, the driver is not guilty, and it is just a myth the cyclist is dead?? Please!!!!!!
