New user can't post a photo. Picked up a Connondale was told it's an 89. What's the going rate for one missing the original seat?

Seat wouldnt really affect overall value. Saddles are personal choices and most likely will be changed out by the new owners.

Welcome to the forums. Say a few nice comments to get ur post count up in order to post pictures

The 1989 Cannondale catalog is here: https://vintagecannondale.com/year/1989/1989.pdf You can check if the bike matches anything there and figure out what model it is as a starting point.

...the going rate for 80's Cannondales (in good condition) here in my area is usually in the 150-250 range. Sometimes a little more if it's been recently overhauled and has new stuff added. This is because they made and sold a lot of them, I think. Not because they're bad bicycles.

This looks like the base model, so whatever you paid for it is likely a good price for your area.

Looks like an '88 ST400. Entry level Cannondale tourer. Capable bikes, they make nifty commuters.

Isn't 89 the year they started cantilevering out the drop outs in the back behind the seat stay?

Makes sense since they'd have to install an eyelet back there somewhere for racks...

+1, the rear derailleur appears to be the SunTour Alpha 3000 spec'd on the 1987 and 1988 ST400 but the black paint with red graphics was the 1988 model.
