In related news, today I did my annual ride my age ride + a few to grow on. 60.53 to be precise. Rode the new bike which I knew could have been risky since I haven't dialed in the fit yet. It was. Couldn't get comfortable so it was a bit of a slog. A post ride nap and subsequent pizza recovery meal was required.

Let me tell ye of the woe that is MTB dropper posts.
My MTB has had sram brakes since new. They're total crapola. Recalled umpteen times, new levers ad nauseum under warranty... still freaking drag all the time.
So enough's enough, I put shimano brakes on this week. Which means $32 problem solver adapters to mount the sram shifter, and the rockshox reverb dropper... except, I need a new remote at $98 for the dropper, and a $32 bleed kit (because who doesn't want hydraulics in your freaking seat). I get stuff, everything goes on... dropper doesn't return, even after a bleed. So it's not holding air. Hydraulics not enough for your damn seat, how about a 250psi air resevoir to top it off. In. A. Seat. So now it's not holding air. That'll be another $61 rebuild kit, and maybe some other parts order that you won't know about until you have it apart and can't ride it. So total is going to be $191 just to fix my damn seat.
Oh and jenson has new units with the new remote that'll work for $199 on 50% off sale today FML.

I actually rode a bike today! Like I totally remembered how, and only fell off once!
For the last few months I've been dieting, I invented the best diet ever, that I've christened The Tequila Diet(tm), on which I'm down 30 pounds in just a few months already. Part of that has been avoiding hard cardio that makes me hungry... but I said screw it and hit the trails today on the MTB. It's my bday, I'm headed to a tequila joint, and I needed some extra calories! I guess my plan is to get down to 200 (year's end if I'm lucky), and then hit the bike and just try to maintain weight. If I keep losing more, then bonus.

speaking of @Velo Vol, how is his DQ empire going?
In other other news, I like Starbucks dark roast coffee as well as Peet's. I like most coffee if it is dark roast but I'll drink most coffee and can enjoy it. I'm adopting the Rjones28 philosophy.

Still puzzling over smart trainers and here’s another issue: The bike I’m going to use is 10 speed and my wife’s bike is 11. I expect to be the > 75% user. Is a wheel off trainer worth the hassle of changing cassettes? I realize no one can answer this for me, but you can call me an idiot, which is sometimes exactly what one needs to hear.

Busy day. Up early. Did my club’s 64 mile A- ride which was a ton of fun and we had beautiful weather, home for a quick shower then back to West Chester to see the Marching Band show. It was impressive. After that, we took the not so little marching girl out to dinner. Finally home and appropriately tired.
