Removing valve core on mounted tubular
Any suggestions on how I would remove the valve core of a tubular tire that is mounted on a 50mm rim. I want to change the valve extender to the type that has a valve core, but my valve core removal tool doesn't fit inside the valve hole on the wheel.

Every tubular tire I've seen for decades uses a Presta valve. The imaged tool is for a Schrader valve.
The OP's question is one more reason to not use stupid deep rims Really, with sew ups any valve work is best done when unmounted. If you can't afford to do this then maybe sew ups are not the best choice. Andy

The typical 30mm stem will be 20mm inside the rim.
Even if the valve core was removed, there's a good chance that the new valve extender wouldn't seal well without tightening the two parts against each other,
and it could be hard to even get the extender started- I've had that problem when one of those (stupid) Vittoria replaceable stems came loose.

ok.... OT sorta, but if you can't get at the valve to remove the presta core, how the heck do you pump up the tire???? this is bugging me

At the last shop I worked at, we saw lots of deep profile tubulars that used both types.

When this type of extender is used, the valve is left in the open position before it's installed. The pressure in the tire keeps it closed. You have to pump it with enough pressure to crack the valve open to inflate it. I think the OP wants to swap it out for the type that has the valve on the end of the extender.
