Bikes: More bicycles than I can ride at one time: 2 custom made tourers, a Brompton 6-speed, and an Indian-made roadster.

Bike from Lhasa, Tibet to Khatmandu, Nepal??

Anyone done this trip or personally know someone who did?

All advertised (Google search) tours seem to be supported and about 21 days long - but there are sections where tourers are driven by vehicle..

Any info would be useful. Thanks. :-)

There is no independant touring in Tibet at the moment, and this is not likely to change anytime soon. Ideas of sneaking off should be shelved, because you dont want the hassle being caught will bring.

So you will need to be in a group.

Yes, I know that, however I am still waiting for feedback about this type of tour from someone who has done it. There are only organized tours, and all seem to start with a flight from Nepal to Tibet, then some acclimatization and touring in the capital, and then the supported bike tour.

Any feedback?? Thanks :-)

Here is a site that might help you:

https://www.bikechina.com/index.php

I know that there is a tour from Chengdu to Lhasa to Nepal on at the moment, but I dont know much more about it. This is a summer ride, I dont think it is possible in winter.

Thanks for this info.... I will keep looking. yes, summer is the time to go. I no longer want to do winter things - even though I am from Canada and used to camp (in pre-metric days) at -33F.
