I've been missing from this forum for almost 6 years and 3 years ago and an embarrassing amount of cash later finally finished my all carbon SS. Took it twice to Japan and rode the Shimanami Kaido. Rides great and because its light and a SS its perfect for taking on vacation.

The frame itself is a small hand formed Italian carbon bike company called Switch Bikes, their frames are uh...on the pricier side:
Switchbikes.com Urban
mine is called the "Urban", not sure how the original owner was able to get one considering how non user friendly their web site is but retailed around 3000 for just the frame. I bought it from him for around 700. After that I just spent a lot of time obsessing over building an as Italian as possible all carbon fiber single speed. Cinelli Ram bars (and cinelli caleido tape), cinelli neo stem, campy record levers, TRP carbon brakes, fibrelyte custom ordered carbon chainring, San selle Marco regal seat, campy record seatpost, specialized trispokes a la Graem Obree, and campy record cranks.

GhostSS....that's an awesome looking SS! Need to see more pics about your ride on Shimanami Kaido.
I'm kinda curious about your choice in footwear and the weight of your bike after your efforts in Carbonizing it.
Anyway.....Welcome back!

Haha, I knew someone would mention my shoes! Honestly I spent so much time worrying about packing my bike I forgot to bring my shoes on my trip. So I just bought a new pair of adidas for cheap and just used those. Normally I wear my Cinelli x DVS biking shoes meant for fixed gear riding.
My bike in it's current form is about 17 pounds, but if I lose the trispokesand use my box wheels and run it brake less it's closer to 14.
I have too many photos of my ride to upload and dont want to go off topic, I'll try to create a thread for those sometime.

That is one sweet ride. Everything is perfect. Googled Shimanami Kaido and now I want to go. Last time I visited Tokyo the trip was too short. The Shimanami Kaido looks fantastic.

^^^^Love the look of the clear coated raw steel frame and welds.
IMO the pedals enhance the Modern Industrial look but if it was my "daily ride" I would be swapping them out for a safer/lighter set.....probably change the colour of the grips too.

Certainly no show pony, but fun light and nimble in its latest iteration.

^^^^frankenmike....I had to stare at your pic for a minute to figure out the bars. I'm sure they're useful but if you're looking to improve it's looks try a set of bullhorns.....

I know. I actually have a set I’ve been meaning to put on, but the H-bars feel so good. Nerdy bars for now...

Why change bars because somebody doesn't like the looks? You say they feel good, why not stay with them? Maybe you can use some different bar tape or something to make them look better?

I just like to play around with different set-ups just for kicks. FWIW, when I put the H-bars on, I thought it looked funny, which actually sort of made it fun. Anyway, I already have the next cockpit lined up for whenever I get the tinkering itch.

This is a very good point....which is why I add a drop of Blue Loctite on many `critical bolts``.

Finally finished (sort of) after many delays and detours - 1973 Raleigh Competition that is sort-of a single-speed. Nervar Star cranks with 42/44T rings, 17/19T Surly Dingle fixed on one side, currently a 17/19T Dos Eno freewheel on the other (someday I'll score a 20/22T!), running 35 mm Continental cyclocross tires on CR-18s laced to Surly hubs. It rides way, way better than I had thought it would, and I look forward to experimenting with it on multiple surfaces!

I’d love to get my hands on one of those surly dingles for the Lotus Eclair I’m building up as a fixed gear commuter/ light tourer.

thanks for the compliment. I live in SoCal and I live 10 miles from the beach and can ride up and down the coast for miles. Bike trails near me are on the riverbed. I just started riding since the pandemic and loving it.
