Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

that must have been tricky to time or is that a video frame? Regardless, there’s more to it than a casual observer might appreciate

It's a timed shot. The toughest part is that my phone camera only allows up to 10 seconds in the countdown, it's a bit of a rush to get in position. Fairly difficult to do uphill shots riding toward the camera in this way, haha.

Not quite empty road ahead, but with the lock down, all the roads are empty and I've been riding roads I would never ever ride on a bike, even after midnight. This is a normall very busy 280 in Cupertino area at 6:15 on a Saturday evening several weeks ago.

No problem re: not a real road. How dead straight it was caught my eye.
My experience is rail trails are, having been surveyed for railroads, paths of least resistance be it straight as a die where possible, taking paths of least gradient. Mostly OK with this old mature guy. Dead straight can get boring sometimes.

totally agree! that was a particularly strainght part. but can still apply to a rail trail in general. fortunate that one has lots of water features to keep it interesting
