No, I just thought you rode on rollers as opposed to a fixed position trainer. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

Got the used Kickr snap this afternoon. Took a few minutes to get it all talking to the Bolt and iPhone due to not using instructions. But easy enough and had a free Kinomaps account controlling the ride in no time.

Uhm, that’s addicting. I only planned to get it working due to much suffering in the gym at lunch today. Then out of nowhere I look down and realized I had been hammering the climb of the free sample course for 4 min and was sweating all over the floor.

Can’t imagine once on Zwift and doing stuff. That interactive control is a game changer versus a fluid.

Road feel is sooo much better than a fluid with that nice flywheel.

Hooked in a 5min setup test!

Putting my dog down on Friday. It’s time.

His is arthritis has progressed to the point he can’t really walk. We’ve known this was coming, and my wife and I planned to do it October. Then we moved it up to early September.

But it he took a drastic turn for the worse last night, so I am having them come Friday. I would have done it sooner, but I couldn’t reschedule my shoulder surgery and wasn’t sure I’d be in a position to do it tomorrow morning.

As much as I’ve prepped myself for this, it is one of the most miserable decisions I’ve had to make. I don’t know that I’ve cried this much in decades.

It's a hard call to make, but it's the necessary one, and the one that's best for them.

Seriously, with the integrated seat mast again.

Bought new saddle (Selle SMP dynamic) and the rail to saddle height is so much different than my Specialized Toupe, that even removing a large spacer, I'm about 6mm high on my saddle height. I have to cut the mast to get it right. Gonna try it on a ride to make sure it's actually too high, and that I don't hate the saddle, then I'll cut it. Just so stupid.

Funny, I thought about that when I got a notice of a Noah on sale way cheap. I also heard about a 2016 Helium X large for $1200 for the frameset. Too bad I don't have a job.

It never stops amusing me when I see Alex Stieda enter local races as a cat5. Guy wore the yellow jersey...

Wasted a nice, cool Sunday morning. Got about 100 feet into my ride before I knew the only thing I was going to get from continuing was a sore back and messed up knees. The saddle is just too way too high.

Didn't absolutely hate the saddle though, so I guess I cut the mast? It has about 20mm of possible adjustment, and I need to take off about 7mm. So I can get back to my existing location if I need to, but not a ton more. Ugh.

Pissed, maybe not. Disappointed, probably so.

I get asked to take over something at work when some foreign guy from the "Motherland" country went home that was more responsibility and stuff. Authorities on signing for some important parts of the project. Nothing, just rotate the org chart, not even an email. Never even really a thanks for taking on that steaming pile.

Then, other folks just happen to work in the right spot at the right time and you'd think it was red carpet night or the Academy Awards.

Probably why I hit my workout at lunch. I'd rather feel or show pain on the bike than otherwise.

I ordered a new bike; 2020 SuperSix Evo 105. I'll have the components on my bike moved over and the 105 on my CX. I'm also getting some nice Kysrium SL's.

Descending on Oak Glen I heard a noise after hitting a bump and I lost all confidence in that bike's structural integrity (which has been in 3 crashes and has several chips). That and 30,000 miles in and its time.

The sad thing is I'm not even super excited, its just something I need, like a new refrigerator or AC Unit. Hopefully my attitude changes once I actually get my hands on it.

Edit; I also have enough spare parts for another bike, so I'm looking at getting an Allez Sprint 1x for Crits, etc. if anyone knows how to get one (49) used or new for a good deal, hit me up.

spent a good portion of the day being ipad repair person, both my ipad and the ipad my son primarily uses had been dropped. these are the gen4 models from way back in late 2012 so they're dinosaurs but still functional. replacement screens were $20 each, and with youtube as my instructor I managed to get them both looking good again

Maybe you know more. But is it possible he's just in there coaching and advising? It's not like he won the thing. He finished at the back of anyone who didn't get dropped.

Absolutely, he even hosts a race trying to support the sport. This wasn't one of our learn-to-race clinics or anything like that; so his mentorship would have been limited to the local junior/old masters team he is part of (Juventus). They did take the win and 3rd...

My training partner and teammate is racing in the 70.3 Ironman World Championships this weekend and hopes to win his age group. He's won his age group at Superfrog 70.3 and got a few overalls at small Tri's but this is another level. Hopefully it'll happen but the Euro's are just as strong at Tri as they are in cycling so its going to be tough. Probably more nervous about this than actual races I've done.
