N+1 Adding a Hybrid trail bike to a Hybrid road bike
Got this bike in 2005 to commute to work

Shopping around
Had some criteria, flat bars, probably a triple similar to the 48-38-28 with a 11-28, wide tires with room for fenders, braze ons for stuff, rim brakes, frame more adept at trail - single track rides, and not black or grey.
Looked at a lot of different bikes, price not really an issue within reason.
And the winner was

It's a Verve 2, would have went with the 3 for the better drive train but the colour won.
New seat, trekking bars, rack, mirror, computer, fenders, and a bell. Lighting to follow.

Already have over 700 kms on it, very happy so far. If the woods ever dry out a little will try some of the new single track trails added locally.
Larger tires are interesting, the label on them, 700x45s, say 60 - 80 PSI. Think I'm going settle around the 40 PSI mark, tried 35 in the front but when standing on the pedals I don't like how much the tire seems to flatten out, and the ride is not noticeably different.

Really love the red. I ended up getting the matte black on my bike but was very close to choosing red (to match my rally red civic, lol).
I have 700x35 tires and have them inflated fairly high. I find the bike rolls nicely that way.

One note about the tires -- those are fairly stiff tires due to the heavy puncture protection layer they have under the tread. If you are interested in really plush tires, you would be able to replace these with some from the aftermarket which would ride nicer. Of course, the flip side of that is an H5 is probably nearly bomb-proof; a tire that is more supple also won't be as durable.
P.S. I love your Peugeot also!

29er opens up options as it has clearance for pretty fat tires.. 29er plus , even more so..
