1965 Rudge Sports rear fender/mudguard white striped.

I have a black 1965 Rudge Sports that came with a non original rear fender. I am looking to replace it with something identical to its original features and wondering if it had the white stripe on it.

If the bike was built for domestic market it will have had the white tailed fender. Most of the export models too, probably because it wasn't worth the trouble to make a separate run of fenders. IIRC the requirement went away in the 80's. Started around 1937.

It would be great to find an original fender that matched the rest of the bike and looked original. Another option would be to find a beat up fender and repaint it black and copy the white blaze at the back. Rudge decals are available. Raleigh light roadster fenders were the same style from the mid 30s to the end around 1980. Only the stays vary. Some had wire stays, some had a single welded on stay and some later fenders had 2 welded on stays. The fender you would need would be the one with a single welded stay.
