About "unibrow" fork crowns (i.e., Tom Ritchey's innovative design): I never encountered the term before it appeared in a very recent thread. Can anyone locate evidence showing that it was in use in that sense before late 2023?

Yes, well aware of the distinction between slingshot and bullmoose stems, having sold mountain bikes in shops where I worked from the beginning of their appearance in the market, long enough ago that all of them had solid axles front and rear.

Not sure where "unibrow" came from, I've been using it for years, it derives from "unicrown".
Tom followed the money, cheaper and faster to produce and while stronger was a good byproduct of it, they more than suck aesthetic wise IMO.
Case in point, this may or may not have had a nice fork at one time, it came to me with this Tange "Unibrow" fork and I have entertained swapping in the gorgeous 94 MB-1 fork that was also designed by Tom but not going to repaint it for that, need to have one made but not going to happen.
Glad Grant got to use it on these.

Fully agree, however some like the Ritchey had to get done, I am glad it came with a chrome fork that fits well and gets me there at least for now.
A couple of my Stumpy's are unibrow like the orange one too, one was dirt cheap and will have the parts harvested and the other was a good deal in fantastic shape, so.......
I have a couple of earlier ones as well with the biplane fork that will benefit from the one parts bike.

Search for "unibrow fork" in quotes brings up only a few examples, all from 2023. It'll be interesting to have witnessed a new parochial term get traction in the bike community, if it does.

All lthis unicrown talk makes me sad. I have four bikes with unicrowns and three of them are dear to me.
Over time I've come to see classic forks as prettier, but I manage to get over it when riding.
Two are Cannondale tourers, one of the best all-round bikes out there..
One is a Bruce Gordon BLT, another tourer with a lively ride and room for tires.
The fourth is my winter bike, so I try not to love it as it's getting beat on -- a Rockhopper from the early nineties, with fenders and snow tires.
Unicrowns: "strong and functional, hard to see while you're riding."
