i rode one of my usual rides which is fairly flat with maybe a 200' change in elevation over a long stretch. lots of wind. i rode my newer wheels, which are around 700 grams lighter if not more and bladed spokes. maybe i was feeling good IDK but i was cutting through gusty winds a bit easier, made some great times. my wheels are not aero at all. i could feel the bike being easier to push. or it was all in my head.

I live in the land of Microsoft, Boeing, Nintendo, Amazon. Forgive me if I missed a few. Around here, public school principals start at 125,000. In the Puget Sound area, that kind of money is not that unique. You certainly couldn't live in Medina with that kind of money.

I see you are concerned about not having kids. Would you like to adopt? I am a pretty good cyclist and a very good kid. I would gladly share the hobby with u if you cover the costs!

The main reason I didn't get aero rims was the cost. Lightweight carbon aero wheels aren't cheap, especially ones from reputable sources that can handle sustained braking. Sometimes sustained braking is needed because of traffic.
Aluminium aero wheels are boat anchors. Something like C24s or Krysuims are a good compromise. Light but still suitable for extended slow downhill.
If I had disc brakes I would be riding 50mm carbon aero wheels.
