But you're right. I think we of the Boomer generation may be the last with grandparents born in the 19th Century.

Though really, this actually illustrates my point - ONE of your 4 grandparents made it in under the wire, while for me, a mid-to-late Boomer (1957), all 4 of mine were born in the 19th Century.

Had a pretty rough crash this morning. Car pulled out enfront of me but it just happened to be intersection I needed to make a left turn so I had already started slowing. Not sure if I hit the brake again or what. Saw the car and the next thing I know I was on the ground and I was no longer attached to the bike.
Looks like my elbow and left hood took most of fall. Knocked my left hood a little crooked and my elbow and hand are starting to hurt. Destroyed my toe covers not that they were really working anyways. Somehow my chain got knocked into my wheel. I was worried the hanger was bent but shifting seems to be ok.
Only other thing that i have noticed so far is my front brake is rubbing and sporadically. I took the wheel off and checked to make sure everything was tight and put it back on. I thought it was good and then randomly it started rubbing. This was on my bike stand and without me touching anything but spinning the wheel.
Just picked up new shoes and booties.

I can't imagine, LAJ. I've ridden some epic rides over the years and quite a few where people thought I was insane but I think that i only did a couple centuries in the 25-35 ranges and that's enough for me. Both that I did, ended with the last 25 miles in a medium heavy snowstorm and in both cases, I really thought I was going to make it home.
So... chapeau!

I just took the neighbor gal to the e room, because her dogs were fighting and she somehow broke a finger separating them. I was hoping it was dislocated, but talking to her on the way home after it wasn't shock talking, it sounded like the middle finger was bent across her other fingers at a 90 degree angle. I did that once, and I'll never get that image out of my head. I'm sure the guy that watched me straighten it back out, won't either.

Yeah, it is. His knees are blown out but he is to young to get them replaced. So he didn't want anything to do with a bike.
Same brother that wrecked on a mountain bike while descending. He only has 1 collar bone . The other is just some chunks of rubble under his skin. He was all road rash on one side. Looked like hamburger.
But what the hell, he's got a girl moving in with him. Never saw that coming.

Indeed. I was thinking just yesterday, as I was heading home and yet again marvelling at just how great road cycling is for the soul, that I can't understand why EVERYONE doesn't do it. I'm just glad they don't.

Ikr, I don't get the mentality of wanting everyone to do it because I do. I like that its a little bit odd to the majority of people.
