Are these bikes really fetching this much? And, if it was never ridden, why would it need to be repainted?

1971 Schwinn Lemon Peeler - $2500

If he gets $2500, then yes they are. I have been offered over $1000 for my '69 more than once, but there's too few details to know if this one is worth 2500, IMO. I can say that original schwinn accessories jack the price up on these quite a bit, such as the turn signals. But there's other details that collectors of these things look for that affect the resale price that aren't mentioned. Are the tires repops or original? If they are NOS Schwinn tires, do they have a '71 date code? (they should match the year of manufacture) Is the seat an NOS seat, a repop, or a recover? As for why it was repainted, I'm sure the author meant the bike has not been ridden since it was restored.

Sting Rays are going up that much, but the bike pictured isn't a Sting Ray, it's a Fastback. From what I've seen, Fastbacks are only going for $400 if they're restored or they have the rams horn handlebars. This guy is about $200 too high. If he gets his asking price, good for him

All bikes have been fully gone over and TUNED UP ( DE-GREASED, FULLY TUNED UP,OILED and CLEAR COATED )). They need no labor and are road-ready..

Haha, I'll be polite, but the guy selling it is strange. He's either a flipper or gets stolen bikes or something. I once called him to setup a time to look at a single speed he was selling, and told him I had sent an email asking a few details about the bike. Told him I would call him later, then, he wouldn't answer my calls. Unlisted and relisted the same bike for 3x the money, responded to my email "not interested". Seems like he didn't like me asking specific details about the gearing. Maybe he was thinking I was a cop or something.

Yeah, I don't get the seat angle either. But is is, however, a "blacl letaher racing style saddle". I've always thought the letaher was far superior to leather anyway.

I've got to post this to my bike forum board, we all restore and work on old bikes and classics. Even some of the rarest Schwinns and other antiques dont warrant that kind of change, especially if not completely original pristine condition or fully restored. HYSTERICAL, YOU NEED TO LAY OFF THE CRACK PIPE AND START RIDING THE BIKE TO CLEAR OUT YOUR LUNGS AND HEAD. LMMFAO THE GUYS ON THE SITE ARE GONNA LOVE THIS ONE THANKS FOR THE LAUGH.
