I just call them the Bianchi or Volpe, Surly or "trucker" short for Long Haul Trucker, the Trek, and the Cannonadale. However, my wife calls my black Cannondale road bike "The Shadow." Oddly enough she doesn't call any of her bikes by any special names. When my wife asks, "what bike are you riding today"; I just say the "black one".

I've never been inclined to name my bikes, but after reading this thread, I suppose I should. Okay, from now on, my Trek 1.5 shall be known as "Adelaide Throckmorton."

My F5 is called "Firefly" because it is lightweight and nimble, and was being built during the Waldo Canyon fire evacuation in Colorado Springs last year.

I have three bikes, and up until last Veteran's Day none had been named. But when on Veteran's Day I rode up to the Oregon Vietnam Veteran's Memorial near Portland, Oregon. It took me about an hour to get there, and I watched the ceremonies. Some of the participants were members of the veteran's group known as "Rolling Thunder" which is a motorcycle group of veterans. Also there were Native American veterans who were drumming after the ceremony. I had cabled my bike, a Rans Stratus long wheelbase recumbant, to a tree and walked up the side of the memorial, which was a small valley surrounded on three sides by higher areas. There was a path, with a time-line Oregon's participation in the Vietnam War. I came down after the ceremony, and was removing the cable from the tree when one of the Native Americans came by and commented on the bike. He asked me if it had a name. I told him that the group Rolling Thunder gave me an idea for a name: Silent Wind. And in my mind ever since my recumbant has been "Silent Wind."
When I was using it to commute to and from work, one morning I was going through the large parking lot near our building when I spotted Keith S. walking with his coffee toward the building's entrance. So I stopped pedaling, and glided up behind him at about 8 mph. I was about four feet behind him when I said in a cheery voice, "Hi Keith" and he nearly jumped out of his skin. Unfortunately, the coffee did not stay in the cup.
I was thinking of that story as I named Silent Wind, and thought, "How appropriate for a name for my bike."

Interesting thread.
Our tandem was supposedly named Emily by the women who owned it first and rode it across the country. We generally refer to it as "the tandem".
My other bikes all have names beginning with "the", like "the Raleigh", "the Bertin", "the Bianchi", "the Masi", "the Peugeot". They don't listen but they are responsive, some more responsive than others.
