Aquila SLX with FANCY lugwork
Oh man, just picked this up, full Tricolor, Columbus SLX frame, SL fork, red paint (so you know it's fast)....but, check the lugwork!

That is Fancy!! Looks great! I much prefer this era and type of unique bike as opposed to really pricey basic stuff. What year is it from?

The gussets remind me of the lugs used on a Bob Jackson in an old magazine article that I recently scanned. Not exactly the same lugs, but the gussets are very similar.....

Very nice. There weren't a lot of steel Aquilas that I can remember, they jumped on the aluminum bandwagon in the early-mid nineties. Are you in Toronto?

Those were standard lugs. Used to be easily available, but they are getting scarce. Just saw some trade hands on facebook for more than I would want to spend on them.
I imagine Bulgie has a set.

The BB shell appears to be the same as used by De Rosa on some of the mid-1990s Primato and Diamante variants. Curiously, the Columbus SLX decals are the 1984-1987 version, which would appear to pre-date the frame, based on the lug set, straight bladed forks, dual pivot brakes, brifters, etc. I suspect this has 130mm spacing and is a repaint with replacement decals.

I've had a couple of framebuiding class students choose those lugs. There are 2 different sets very similar to each other. I don't remember where my students got them or if they were in my large stash of lugs I've collected over the years.

Thanks for the replys, bought from second owner who did not touch it for years, that's why it's in great shape. Thanks for the feedback @T-Mar, you might be right (of course)
