Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The only part where you really have to be careful is the permanently closed section where the surface is bad. Lots of holes and loose rocks and even small sections of gravel. And the gates, there are 3 gates, 2 of which are on downhill on the return trip.

A bunch of the bits I ordered for the Lotus restoration have arrived. That is, I'm told they arrived, by Ebay. I'm at actual work today, so I have to look busy for at least a few more hours before going home to revel in Christmas In April.

Second poke scheduled for Friday afternoon. I hope to be back up and around on Monday. Tylenol purchased, and in readiness. And then two weeks later, freedom!

I'm scheduled for my second jab on the 30th. Mrs. GeneJockey is having a whole lot of no luck scheduling hers, and in a couple days it gets thrown open to all adults. I bet it's easier to schedule a shot in states where fewer people believe in the disease....

Here, it's scheduled for us. They are in our town this week and, as foreigners (permanent residents), we have to wait until the last half of the last day, along with the rest of the stragglers Thankfully, we are the only two foreigners(of three) in our age group, who have chosen to get it. Up on the beach, there are hundreds. And still, after six years in this little town, we still bump into people who think we are tourists. Frequently.
I'll be pulling for your wife.

Have her call around the pharmacies in your town and see if she can get on what they call the "waste lists." She would just have to be prepared to get there on short notice if she gets a call.

No need to take the Circuit into the mountains, especially with the single pivot brakes. They're not awful, but they're not disks. They're not even dual pivots.
I am going to reverse myself on the tooth count. I believe that they only came 52 tooth large ring and 42 tooth small, but they also came in triples. I had one hanging in the garage on a cabinette door for years. Last year I took all my old-school stuff over to my buddy's shop and dropped it all off. But I can't find a single reference to a 53 biopace ring.
I tried them for a while. I found them unsettling.. It wasn't a huge upset in my cadence, it was subtle, but it was there.

SOLD!!!!!
I had 3 or 4 offers over my asking. I did ok. The offer I accepted gives me 60 days to find a place, no rent.
So I'm looking at a house tomorrow @ 3 lol. It's smaller than I want but it's also cheaper. Can't hurt to look.

Also took Contador out with the new wheels for a quick 20 mile out and back. They are fantastic. Solid! And fairly light. I think I'll keep them on him for now.
And I decided to leave the Michelin pro4 endurance tyres on for the test ride. I like them! I think better than the service corsa's. They seemed to roll well without much resistance. Will test further. And report back.

My wife and I took our CoMotion out today on a hilly/rolling route. Temps were 55-62° with 15 mph, gusting to 30 mph winds. Any day on the tandem is a good day.

The first ride >10 miles, I noticed something odd. But then I moved them clockwise one arm, as suggested by Jack Tone, based on someone's analysis that Shimano had done them wrong making them "larger" (hence pulling more chain) when the crank is at the weakest point in the rotation and smallest when at the strongest point. After that adjustment, I don't notice them, and I have no problem spinning them as fast as round ones.

Of course the OTHER difference is these are 170mm cranks and all my other bikes have 175s. Last weekend when I had to swap the Circuit for another bike after flatting in the first two miles of my ride, for the first minute the longer cranks felt like I had to really reach with my toes!

I'm really curious how the Lotus, which has 170s but with Dyna Drive pedals (which put the foot level with the pedal spindle) will feel!
