Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking to upgrade wheels, but I need 1 red rim and 1 blue rim

Hi all im new here.

in my mission to get back into biking, i am blinging up my titanium road bike.

I am in search of 1 red rim and 1 blue rim

dont laugh, its about all i know about what i want.

The current campy hubs are fine. Just wondering how much it might cost me and any recommendations?

Do you need the full rim coloured, or just some decals? You could have a nice carbon set built from Light-Bicycle and have them custom decal to your requirements

https://www.prowheelbuilder.com/rims.../blue_red.html

Prowheelbuilder.com has some Velocity rims in red and blue (limited selection).

Or you can go to velocityusa.com and I think they will custom anodize any of their rims as a special order.

edit: $30 for custom anodize: https://www.velocityusa.com/tech/colors/

For a rim brake roadie I'd look at the Quill and the A23 - both tubeless compatible.

....but failing that, you could look in to some Velocity rims. Models like their Deep V were (are?) popular with the fixie kids, and they came in various colors.

Roadies are not going to ooh and ah over a bike with mismatched rim colors.

Go with velocity and for bonus points see if you can send in your crankset to anodize as well. Seriously, we send out aluminum parts for anodization to a third party all the time and I've kicked around sending some bike stuff.

Hey, I’m Mr Let-your-freak-flag-fly, just do it for you. Don’t do it to impress others.

This is a very unusual request. I'm not trying to be snarky here, just explain the lack of response. Most roadies don't really care what color their rims are as long as they aren't hideous, people are more interested in things like how many spoke holes, weight, depth because of aerodynamics, are the rims suitable to the type of riding they'll be put to.

anyways, thanks for looking, i appreciate suggestions.

i can go used. ive never built a wheel before either, but i could learn if i have to
Maybe you can paint the seat post too. If you want to be passing other road cyclists, red is the fastest color.

You may want to post here

Some of the roadies here take themselves waaay too seriously. Some actually live by the "rules" https://www.velominati.com/

People online love saying stuff is ugly or stupid. Then in real life it's the opposite. When I was shopping online for a bike I wanted a cervelo S2 cuz I liked the look of the frame. Everyone online seemed to hate how it looks. Well lo and behold, everyone in real life loved it.

I love how it looks

Of course, in person there’s much more social pressure to be polite. Online, there’s considerable pressure to have the hottest of takes.

You're talking about an early aero frame. He's talking about a bike with color mis-matched... everything. Not quite apples to apples.

I think you also need to consider a King Red or Blue headset, Salsa red or blue seatpost collar.

Mavic Heliums are red. They'd look good on there. You might find a set on Craigslist.

(I should add, that I have dreamed of one day building up a Moots with all Red bits - hubs, bolts, spacers, headset, collar.... Not sure I am a fan of one red and one blue, but to each their own.)
