Rear derailer/rear cassette/briffters
Hi, I’m trying to update/fix an old family bike. Currently it’s a 2x5 for the gears. I’ve recently replaced the both derailers with TD-one torque drive system this rear derailer is meant for 6 gear rear cassette, the brifters ive recently purchased are 7 gears. I’m in the process of updating my rear cassette to a 7 gear cassette to match the shifting, my question is will the rear derailer work with this setup?

Save yourself a lot of trouble and take the TD back and buy a cheap shimano tourney.
You're likely going to have to spread the rear spacing to fit a 7 speed in.

Generally, the shifters, derailleur, and cassette all need to be from the same "family" to work together. If the rear derailleur is not designed for 7 speed index shifting, it probably won't work well.
The shifters will be pulling 'X' amount of cable with each shift. The derailleur & cassette are designed for 'X' cable pull. If you use a random rear derailleur, it may move more or less than expected, so won't match the cog spacing.
