Riding on gravel
I have been doing some riding on gravel on the SES 4.5ARs with Schwalbe Pro One 28mms running tubeless at 50psi (they measure about 32mm). They do very well on steep (12-15%) fine/medium gravel and chert and mild mud. On really big rocky gravel, I walked, in part because I couldn't stand the idea of those beautiful rims getting beat up by the rocks when they sunk in. It likely would have ridden through it to some extent. A not very good pic attached of some of the gravel.

Great Rims. Tubeless tires inflate easily, but can be a little tough to mount at first. The tape needs a clean surface to apply to and will work best if a tube is inflated inside the tire first to compress the tape.

Received my wheels. Strangely, it is quick release rather than thru axle. I thought they don't make quick release.
My LBS said they can convert this to thru axle. What would you do?

Are they DT 240 hubs? The end caps swap out. Just change them if you need to for them to fit.

I would make them match my frame/fork. Assuming they are convertible hubs, you ought to be able to swap easily between QR or 12/15mm thru axle front and 135mm QR or 135/142mm x 12mm thru axle rear. The wheels won't do you any good if they don't fit your bike so figure out what it is first.

My LBS and I did order the exact configuration: Chris King & thru axle. Keep in mind, quick release is not even an option on this wheel.
Since we purchased them (4) months ago (preorder the wheels while waiting for my custom frame), my LBS told me Enve would not take a return. Thus we embark on the alternate road.
What pissed me off is a company like Enve would even ship QR on wheels that they don't even offer QR. Moreover, they don't exchange the wheels even they are culpable for the error.

Call them. ENVE's number is +1 877 358 2869 and they tend to be very responsive. Remember they're real people just like you, and be gentle and open and honest, and you should come away satisfied.
The good news is that you do not need to return the wheels. The CLD hub from Chris King is easy to convert from QR to through-axle. ENVE should be able to supply you with the necessary parts via CK.
And as a last resort, you could point out to the LBS that they are on the hook, as their entire job is to get you want you need. If they're the ones who actually placed the order, they should have both ordered the correct item and verified what they received was correct.
Silly question perhaps, but are you sure the wheels they received are 4.5AR and not the regular 4.5?

Since the frame builder and LBS were back and forth, it would be !@#$ if the wheels ordered are 4.5 version.

All of my experience leads me to believe that Enve will do right by you.
I don't know anything about the 4.5s, but I ordered my second set of 4.5 ARs, and, like yours, they took about 6 weeks to build.
Which is pretty cool when you think about it. These aren't a pair someone grabbed off a shelf, even the rims themselves were made for you.

Sadly it is 4.5AR.
LBS has to order the parts from Chris King. Enve will reimburse the LBS.
Now have to wait longer.
BTW, whenever I get my wheels done right, what is the proper tire pressure for 185lbs, road only?

I’d start at 55 psi and see how it feels. I’m 220 and I run 65-70 depending.
Which tire have you chosen?

I was told there is only one proper tire available: Pro One 28mm. Right? Are there any better choice?

You can use any tubeless tire (with or without tube), but if your rims are clinchers you want 28 mm wide. 25 mm would be too narrow and risk damaging your rim. Wider than 28 mm will compromise the aerodynamics you paid for.
Max psi is 80, Enve told me to take is seriously when I asked them how much wiggle room.

+1 for using this tool
It makes lifting the last few inches of the Schwalbe Pro One bead over the 'outer' rim just so much easier (unless you have much stronger thumbs than me - which is quite possible) - I now use the tool for any tire install that is a bit tight, so hands will never get stronger now!
Also (as suggested by Mark Manners) the Schwalbe Easy Fit seemed to help as well.
Just loving my 4.5ARs - I went with the 'understated' black-on-black decals as well

I went back on black this time, too. These rims are a darker shade of gray, almost black, than my last set, which was more slate. They're fast and roll beautifully!

The last time I weighed it, it had HED Ardennes on, and came to 16.6 lbs. Should be a hair lighter with the Enves.

Stupid questions here. But where else to receive the best answers.
While waiting for my bike to be built by my LBS (LONG STORY), I am doing shopping.
Tires are Pro One.
For typical 50-mile ride on normal streets, what would be inside your caddy: multi tools and what else? Note that I already have Lezyne carbon road drive pump which will be clipped on the bottle holder.
