Finding a 49+ Shoe w Free Returns
So the only 49 and up MTB shoes I can find with free/fairly hassle-free returns are:
Shimano ME3 from Zappos:
Tried this and cannot believe how cheap they feel. Terrible.
Sidi Dominator from Backcountry:
250?! Seriously these cannot be the only good big mtb shoe for guys. I tried them and they are exceptional - but so stiff - the top tongue thing juts into my ankle - sure they'd loosen up after a while. But yeah - this is the shoe I want I think. The 49 seems a little tight so am going for the 50 if I can't find an alternative.
So wish I would have bought like three pairs of my old Northwaves from three years ago. Can't find the model - doesn't say on the shoe. But it looks like Northwave has changed they're buckle design into some kind of dial thingy. Anyone ever done Northwave in the past year?

if nashbar has them, use them done that before. I know the shoe game is a pain but a necessary evil if you can't get them locally. I feel your pain!
Yes the $250 will be my next shoe, I guess they are worth every penny according to most wide footed people. I currently have great luck with Lake shoes, but they don't last more than 3-4 seasons. But they fit really nice.

I have both road and mtb Sidi dominators(size 50) from about 15 yrs ago, when the uppers were leather. $250 sounds like a lot but they last and last, if you break down the cost per ride it turns out to be very cost effective(if you have the initial outlay $$). Ive replaced a couple of ratchet closers on them, parts are readily available. I highly recommend these shoes.
